Why You Don’t Leave.
ONE SIMPLE REASON.
Perfect System Part II
Walking down the street one day, a salesman happened to see an old man sitting on his porch in his rocking chair. He went up to the old man and introduced himself, and as they began speaking to one another he noticed that every few minutes or so the old man’s hound dog sitting next to him would pull his head up and let out a big howl. He asked the old man, “what’s wrong with your dog?” The old man replied, “oh, he’s sitting on a nail.” The salesman asked, “why doesn’t he just get up?!” The old man said, “I guess it’s not hurting bad enough.”
It’s an age-old story that’s been going around for decades, but it’s a very good analogy of how many of us just don’t pack up and leave our old unhappy lives that being brought up in a Perfect System can cause, as shared in Part I “Perfect System, Dangers in Their Packaging.” It’s a world which tells us who we are – never asking us.
Reason to Live
The old hound dog may not have wanted to get up because he was, well, old and tired, but I think more than likely he didn’t get up because he just didn’t have any reason to.
Age isn’t a factor when it comes to living our lives to the fullest. Proof lies in the fact that so many have gone on to do great things after what most would consider retirement age, continuing up to the day that they die.
Louis Hay, a woman I greatly admire, is just one such person. At 58, she founded Hay House, a leading U.S. publishing company. It’s the fastest growing mind-body-spirit and transformational enterprise which sells its products and services to more than 35 countries.
Louis died peacefully in her sleep at the ripe old age of 90. Some attribute her long and healthy life to her reason to live. She had a gift inside that she still had to give away.
We see the struggle to leave our unhappy lives behind that the Perfect System can create, difficult, due to one simple reason:
What others think of me.
What difference does it make what others think of you? They too were programmed by the same Perfect System that you and many others are trying to get away from!
Them and Us
It was in elementary school that I began to notice the difference between them and us. Although I wasn’t quite sure what I was sensing at the time, I knew there was a very distinct difference between the two.
Most of my teachers were one of us, but when I was being taught by one of them, I could feel their very cold and controlling presence. A robotic soldier of the system, they were ever faithful to it.
They looked upon us from across the classroom through a distant stare, one which never saw into our eyes to determine who each of us really were. Scrutinizing our every move, they administered procedures, testing, and homework as they calculated the only thing that they ever knew – our grade.
While visiting my family one holiday, my parents took me to a nursing home to see an old friend of my fathers. As I was walking down the hallway, I saw my first-grade teacher. She was very old of course and suffered from advanced dementia, but in my mind I thought, she wouldn’t have remembered me nor anyone else she had ever taught in her classroom anyway, at any time in her life.
As you might have guessed, she was one of them.
She once blamed me for talking during class as she was writing on the chalkboard with her back turned towards us. I had never forgotten this as it was not me who had been talking. It may not seem like a big deal, but back then it made a considerable impact upon my already keen perception of the world at the time.
You can see them wherever you are. I saw them while working in healthcare; doing their job, but no one was there, not really, just a shell with their tasks, guidelines, and achievements, with numbers to see, not patients.
I see them out shopping, in stores and at restaurants. I speak to them on the phone. I definitely recognized them while my son was in school, which is why I decided to homeschool him throughout most of his entire schooling, but that’s another story. Perhaps an entire book.
From tiny children, we’re so programmed by the soldiers that once we’ve reached young adulthood, the nail is already far more comfortable to lie on than ever moving. The fact is, at that stage, many of us aren’t really aware of it, yet, but it’s there, inching its way inward.
Those few old friends I spoke of in Part I that never did make the grade in school or in life simply did not conform to the system, ever. Sadly, they never found their reason to live through remembering what their gift was.
They were lead to believe they did not have one because they didn’t conform because they did not put on that uniform. Their demise was not due to refusing to put on the uniform. Their demise was believing that they had no gift.
I weep for them.
Scared out of our wits by them when so young and so formidable, we had never forgotten. Like a military regime, we proudly put on that uniform and we never took it off – So afraid, we were terrified we might become nobody if we ever dared.
We remembered that blank stare. We remembered only becoming somebody when we did exactly as ordered, achieved exactly as expected, lest we fall into their hall of shame.
Most of us are still those little children sitting in the classroom.
The very same people that made us put on those uniforms as children are the same individuals that still tell us today what we can or cannot do as adults. If they don’t tell us, our fellow classmates who became military replacements of their regime do.
But our very worst enemy is the programming that they left deep inside our minds. We repeat it to ourselves daily. We believe it. We teach it to one another.
You can’t leave because you tell yourself you’re not qualified, you’re not perfect, you don’t have a college degree or maybe you’ve done something in your past that perhaps you’re ashamed of: You’ve been fired multiple times, your businesses have failed, your marriages ended, your kids hate you or there’s a drug or alcohol problem in your shadows. And if you’ve got a criminal record, well, that just stopped you in your tracks forever.
You can’t live your life through your soul because you are telling yourself you’re not perfect – in their eyes.
What others think of you is more important than what you think of you.
Stopping you at the door of spiritual freedom that opens the path towards living life through your soul, your true purpose in life - is you.Click To Tweet
Just think about this for a moment;
We were told to follow a God outside of ourselves simply based on faith for our spiritual guidance, yet we are to hand over the only true thing that we possess, our gift inside that our spirit itself brings with it, to the guidance of a perfect system created by man.
Someone very dear to me once shared that he was an ordained minister and that he would love to help people through what he knew in his heart, but felt he would be living a big lie due to his criminal record from the past, over something that had happened now many years ago.
Surely a journey to share above most others, he has much to tell and much to teach, as he had lived on another side of life that many had not experienced. He had fallen far below and risen far above.
But this lovely man, still saddened to this day because of what he believes others think of him and his past, never did become who he felt in his heart that he truly was, yet he has lived a good life helping others for many years now, even marrying the ill daughter of a dying man when asked that he care for her, and for her baby abandoned by its father.
In his spare time, which is tough to come by as he works many hours, for his wife is unable, he donates his time and hard earned money to the homeless. He writes to young men in prison when given a chance, hoping to make a difference in their lives.
And every holiday, if you come by the local food pantry, you will see him standing there with love in his eyes, and a prayer in his heart handing out food to those families who have fallen on hard times because he knows what that truly is.
A passion to give, just who should be our teachers? Us or them?
Stop telling yourself that you’re not qualified. There is no qualification or any type of degree (Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D.) that can prevail over the knowledge that is in our hearts and our souls.
That wonderful man did end up ministering to people, but only in the very limited time that he had available. Wouldn’t it be nice if he could share his gift inside, his reason to live, all the time? Wouldn’t it be nice if we all could do this from the very beginning of our lives?
And, just be.
The children are counting on you.

What to Do
A SIMPLE PATH TO YOU
Learn to just be what’s inside of you – your reason to live. Show someone else how. Rinse and repeat.
If we don’t become a world that’s living on purpose, what will become of our children?
First Easy Steps
- Begin your journey to becoming what’s inside of you every single moment by just being who you are.
- Surround yourself with individuals wherever they may be, virtual or nonvirtual, who also believe in this higher knowledge.
- Continually listen to or read material that guides you towards enlightenment.
Practice knowing, and believing in your true self through just a few simple positive affirmations below. To know is to listen. Listen to your higher self after each affirmation is read either silently or out loud.
Make a few flash cards, small enough to fit inside of a pocket or purse, and write on these flashcards these words.
- I am (affirm to yourself that you are aware of your higher self, your higher power within.)
- I know my purpose for being here – my reason to live is _________.
- I see my soul being released to guide me in all that I do.
- I trust my soul to guide me.
All the universe will conspire to bring forth its greatest good in creating a path that will lead me towards strength in finding my way to becoming___________.
After your daily affirmations just listen to what you hear and be aware of what you feel. This is your spirit speaking to you. If you aren’t used to listening to your spirit or higher self, it may take some time, but you will eventually hear your higher self. It’s always been there. It is you.
Ask the children in your life who they are, don’t tell them, and let them be. Monitor what others are telling them so that you can intervein through higher knowledge, your higher awareness of what’s true and what isn’t. (Just FYI, they will tell you they have a Ph.D. or Master’s degree. This means absolutely nothing if they are not following a higher wisdom.)
